privacy policy

What this site collects, why, and how to have it removed. In short: no advertising trackers, no cookies on the public site, and nothing is sold.

Who I am

adnanali.io is the website of Adnan Ali, an independent web developer based in Pakistan. I decide what is collected here and I am the person to contact about it: adnan@adnanali.io.

When you send an enquiry

The contact form asks for your name, your email address and a message. It also offers optional fields for the kind of project, budget and timeline. When you send it, the site stores those details along with your IP address and your browser's user agent string.

I use what you send to reply to you and to prepare a quote. The IP address is used to limit how many messages one address can send in an hour, which keeps spam out. The enquiry is also emailed to me so I can answer it, and you get one automatic email confirming it arrived.

I do not add you to a mailing list and I do not share your enquiry with anyone else.

Visitor analytics

The site counts visits with its own analytics, stored on my own server. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel and no social media tracking script. The public site sets no cookies.

For each page load the server records the page, the referring page if there was one, your IP address, your browser's user agent string, and the country your IP address belongs to. A small script on the page then adds:

  • the source of the visit (search, social, direct or another site) and any campaign tags in the link,
  • screen and window size, and whether you are on a phone, tablet or computer,
  • how far down the page you scrolled and how long the page was in view,
  • which links and buttons you clicked,
  • whether you started, sent or left the contact form. What you type into the form is not recorded by analytics.

To tie the pages of one visit together, the script keeps a random visit ID in your browser's session storage, which is cleared when you close the tab. It also keeps a note in local storage of how you first arrived (the source, the referring page, the first page you landed on and when), so a later enquiry can be credited to the right source. You can clear both at any time in your browser settings.

If your browser sends the Do Not Track signal, the script does not run. The server still records the page load itself, as every web server does.

Who else sees it

  • Hostinger hosts the site, its database and the email account that receives enquiries.
  • ip-api.com receives your IP address once, to tell me which country it belongs to. The answer is stored so the same address is not looked up again.
  • If you choose to contact me through Fiverr, LinkedIn or another site linked from here, that site's own privacy policy applies.

I do not sell or rent personal information, and I do not use it for advertising.

How long it is kept

Enquiries are kept while we are discussing or working on a project, and afterwards as a business record. Analytics records are kept so that traffic can be compared over time. Either can be deleted earlier if you ask.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including the UK, the European Union, the UAE and California, you may have the right to see the personal information I hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to how it is used. To do any of these, email adnan@adnanali.io. I will reply within one business day and act on the request within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with my answer, you can complain to the data protection authority where you live.

Changes

If what this site collects changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top is updated.
